Shira Lipkin is a science fiction and fantasy writer and activist. Her short fiction and poetry have been published in Interfictions 2, Stone Telling, Steam-Powered, Mythic Delirium, Chizine, Apex Magazine, and many more. She won the 2012 Rhysling Award for short poem and has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize, and she’s been shortlisted for the Million Writers Award. She’s a member of the Interstitial Arts Foundation, the Outer Alliance, the Secret Poetry Cabal, and Broad Universe, and she’s on the board of the Strowler Arts Foundation.
Shira is also an vocal advocate for social change, as a community education and mobilization volunteer and a survivor speaker for the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center and through her online presence and public appearances in various conventions. She would like to tell you all about how you can dismantle rape culture in your spare time.
She lives in the Boston area with her partners, teenage daughter, and requisite Writers’ Cats. In her spare time, she imagines what it might be like to have spare time.
